Romantic Hotels in Dallas: Four Downtown Picks for Couples
For a romantic weekend in Dallas, I would sleep downtown, at The Joule on Main Street or The Adolphus on Commerce Street, because both put a spa, a pool and a serious bar inside the building. These are the four hotels on this page, and all four are downtown. Three of them sit within two blocks of each other around Akard and Ervay streets: The Joule at 1530 Main, The Adolphus at 1321 Commerce and Mint House in Santander Tower at 1601 Elm. Omni Dallas Hotel stands apart, on Lamar Street at the convention center. Together they average 8.7 out of 10 across 3,130 guest reviews, three have a pool, three have a spa and three accept pets. Below I say which one suits which kind of couple, and what the hotel pages do not tell you.
Dallas is a driving city, but its downtown core around Main, Elm and Commerce streets packs historic hotels, rooftop pools and cocktail bars within a few walkable blocks.
Which downtown hotel suits which couple
Downtown Dallas does romance through its buildings rather than its scenery: a 1912 hotel built by a brewing magnate, a pool hanging off a tenth floor, a cocktail lounge in a basement. Three of the four hotels here hold all of that under one roof, which matters in a city where you otherwise drive everywhere. The choice comes down to style, pool and how much of the evening you want to spend on the premises.
The Joule is the one I would book for a design-minded couple. Its pool, designed by Adam D. Tihany, sits on the tenth floor and cantilevers about eight feet beyond the building, with a glass front that lets you look straight down onto Main Street. Below ground there is a two-level spa and Midnight Rambler, a cocktail lounge run by Dallas bartender Gabe Sanchez. It is a five-star hotel scoring 8.8 from 164 reviews, the smallest sample of the four, so I give that score less weight than the Omni's.
The Adolphus is the historic choice. Anheuser-Busch co-founder Adolphus Busch built it in 1912, it was once the tallest building west of the Mississippi, and it has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983. The restoration completed in 2018 brought back the original marble floors and the ceiling of the French Room, where afternoon tea is now served. Rooms have dark wood and French-inspired details, most with city views, and there is a rooftop pool with a bar and Spa Adolphus. Its 8.5 from 240 reviews is the lowest score on this page.
Omni Dallas Hotel is the big modern option, and a sky bridge links it to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. For a couple that has two consequences. The heated outdoor infinity pool on the rooftop deck and the Mokara Spa are the best pool-and-spa pairing here, and 1,591 reviews averaging 8.8 make it the most reliable score on the page. The flip side: the hotel is built around the convention trade, so I would check the convention center calendar before booking an anniversary weekend. It is also the only one of the four that is not a short walk from Akard Station, which matters more than usual until 2029.
Mint House Dallas Downtown by Kasa works differently. It is in Santander Tower at 1601 Elm Street, between Ervay and Akard, and its rooms come with kitchenettes, many with city views. There is no pool, spa or pet policy on its page, so I would not choose it for a spa weekend or a trip with a dog. It suits a couple who wants space, breakfast in the room and a short walk to the Main Street bars, and its 8.8 from 1,135 reviews says guests mostly get what they expect.
Getting downtown without a car is easier than most visitors assume. DART's Orange Line runs from DFW Airport Station, at Terminal A, to downtown in roughly 50 minutes, stopping at West End, Akard, St. Paul and Pearl/Arts District. Akard, on Pacific Avenue, is the station I would use for The Joule, The Adolphus and Mint House. For the Omni, note that the Convention Center light-rail station beside it closed on January 5, 2026 for the convention center rebuild; DART expects it to reopen in late 2029, and trains pass through without stopping.
A traveler's perspectiveFor an anniversary I would book The Adolphus and reserve afternoon tea in the French Room before anything else, because the 1912 building is the most romantic setting downtown and its Holiday Tea is one of the first in Dallas to sell out. If the trip is about the pool and a late drink, I would pick The Joule instead, for the glass-fronted tenth-floor pool and Midnight Rambler downstairs. I would choose the Omni only when the Mokara Spa matters more than atmosphere, and only after checking that no big convention overlaps my dates.

The Joule Dallas

164 reviews
Downtown Dallas luxury with a pool, spa, and pet-friendly rooms
Check availabilityWhy guests love itThe outdoor pool is the main family draw at The Joule, a welcome break in the Dallas heat after a morning downtown. Its city center location keeps much of downtown within reach, and the on-site restaurant saves a search for dinner. The overall mood is romantic and adult, with a minibar, spa and wellness facilities and a 24-hour fitness center, so I would suggest it to families with older children. Pets are welcome. An 8.8 score from 164 reviews is reassuring.

Mint House Dallas Downtown By Kasa

1,135 reviews
Modern downtown Dallas stays with kitchenettes and city views
Check availabilityWhy guests love itKitchenettes are the main reason I would suggest Mint House Dallas Downtown to families: preparing breakfast or a simple dinner in the room takes pressure off a city trip. The Dallas World Aquarium is close by and makes an easy first outing with children, while the Sixth Floor Museum and the Dallas Holocaust Museum suit older kids and teenagers. Many rooms have city views. An 8.8 score from more than 1,130 reviews is strong.

Omni Dallas Hotel

Downtown Dallas hotel with an infinity pool and pet-friendly amenities
Check availabilityWhy guests love itThe heated infinity pool is the feature I would put in front of families at the Omni Dallas Hotel, a downtown address that also works for a weekend with children. Rooms have private bathrooms, the front desk is staffed around the clock, and pets are welcome, so the family dog can come along. Adults can use the fitness center and the spa and wellness facilities, and business facilities are on hand for a working parent. An 8.8 from 1,591 reviews is an excellent score for a large downtown hotel.

The Adolphus, Autograph Collection

Luxury downtown hotel with a rooftop pool and French-inspired elegance
Check availabilityWhy guests love itThe rooftop pool with its bar is the highlight for families at The Adolphus, a welcome break after a day downtown between the Arts and Financial Districts. Most rooms have city views, with dark wood furnishings and French-inspired details that older children may find more memorable than a standard chain room. Parents can use the modern fitness floor and spa and wellness facilities, meals are possible on site, and pets are accepted.
Local tips
- 1Book the French Room's Holiday Tea at The Adolphus the moment reservations open on Resy: last season they opened on October 7 and the tea is one of the first in Dallas to fill.
- 2At The Adolphus, ask for a city-view room when you book: most rooms have one, but not all, and the hotel page says so itself.
- 3Check the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center calendar before booking the Omni, since the sky bridge to the halls makes it the default hotel for large conventions.
- 4From DFW Airport, take the DART Orange Line from Terminal A to Akard Station; it puts you a short walk from The Joule, The Adolphus and Mint House without a rental car.
- 5Do not plan to use the Convention Center light-rail station for the Omni: it closed in January 2026 and is not expected to reopen before late 2029.
- 6Travelling with a dog, choose The Joule, The Adolphus or the Omni, which all accept pets; Mint House states no pet policy, so ask before booking.
- 7Pick Mint House if you want to eat breakfast in the room: its units have kitchenettes, which none of the three other hotels list.
- 8For a drink after dinner without leaving the building, The Joule has Midnight Rambler underground and The Adolphus has its rooftop pool bar and the French Room Bar.
