Our take
This Courtyard stands at 3340 South 79th East Avenue in east Tulsa, with 122 rooms, The Bistro for Starbucks coffee, meals and evening cocktails, and an indoor pool with a whirlpool. Despite the name, it is not downtown: the Gathering Place is about 12 km away and Tulsa International Airport about 8 km, both by car. Guests rate it 8.4 out of 10 across 192 reviews. I would book it for a work trip on the east side, a road trip that needs easy highway access or a family stop with a pool that works in winter. I would not book it for a stay on foot around the Blue Dome District or the Arts District.
- The 11-day Tulsa State Fair at Expo Square, held in early October, fills Tulsa's hotels; Expo Square is a short drive from this east-side address.
- The pool is indoors, so children can swim on a cold January evening or a stormy spring day, a real point in Oklahoma's tornado season.
- Some rooms have a sofa bed and some units have one or two bedrooms, so a family of four should book those room types by name.
- For the Gathering Place, Tulsa's large riverside park, plan on a drive of about 12 km rather than a walk.
Why we love it
- Modern rooms with private bathrooms
- Restaurant with diverse dietary options
- Fitness center and outdoor fireplace
- Convenient airport proximity
Why guests love itThis is a dependable chain hotel for families passing through Tulsa or visiting relatives on the east side, not a city-centre base. Rooms come with a mini fridge, a microwave and a 50-inch TV, and the mix of connecting rooms, suites and units with one or two bedrooms gives families real choice. The indoor pool and whirlpool are the main draw for children, usable whatever the weather, and The Bistro covers breakfast and an easy dinner without getting back in the car. Outside there is a terrace with an outdoor fireplace. The weak point is location: downtown, the Gathering Place and the Arts District all need a drive, so this works for families with a car and a plan rather than for strolling evenings.
