Our take

Mint House Tampa Downtown sits at 801 East Whiting Street, on the eastern edge of downtown Tampa toward the Channel District, with 53 apartment-style units that each have a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. Kasa added the Mint House properties, Tampa included, to its platform in a January 2026 deal. Guests rate it 9.0 out of 10 across 156 reviews. I would book it for a week of Lightning games, a convention or a family trip that needs a kitchen and laundry. I would not book it for a classic hotel with a lobby bar and restaurant: this is an apartment stay with a pool and a gym.

  • The TECO Line Streetcar is fare-free and runs every 15 minutes, until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, linking the Channelside Drive stations, including The Florida Aquarium, with Ybor City.
  • Benchmark International Arena, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Tampa Convention Center are both a short walk away, so leave the car parked on event days.
  • Gasparilla, the pirate parade in late January, fills downtown and changes the streetcar service on event days; book early and check the streetcar's event schedule.
  • Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30; a kitchen and a washer make an apartment like this easier to sit out a stormy day in than a single hotel room.

Why we love it

  • Apartment-style rooms with full kitchens
  • Year-round outdoor swimming pool
  • Convenient downtown location
  • In-room washing machine and dishwasher
Why guests love it

This works well for families who want space and self-sufficiency in downtown Tampa. Each unit has a full kitchen and its own washer and dryer, so a week with children does not mean eating out three times a day or hunting for a laundromat. The outdoor pool is the treat after a day at The Florida Aquarium, which is about half a mile away, and there are barbecue grills and a 24-hour fitness room. The fare-free TECO streetcar reaches Ybor City for an evening without the car. The trade-off is service: this is an apartment-style stay rather than a full hotel, so families who like a restaurant downstairs and staff on hand for every request should look at a traditional downtown hotel.
