I recommend the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk for its address directly on the River Walk and for its two pools, one indoor and one outdoor, which few downtown hotels offer. Rooms with balconies, three places to eat or drink on site and a spa round out the stay, and pets are accepted. Its 8.2 rating is good rather than exceptional, but the location does much of the work.
