The Wigwam
Fifty-four holes of golf on a century-old resort
Glendale
About this stay
The Wigwam has operated as a Southwestern-style resort in Litchfield Park since the early twentieth century, and that history shows in the scale here: four pools, a full spa, 54 holes of golf and several dining rooms across grounds that dwarf every other property on this list. The Wigwam Bar sits a three-minute walk from most rooms for an evening drink without leaving the property, and Goodyear Community Park is a four-minute taxi ride away for anyone wanting a change of scenery. Pet-friendly rooms and full-service laundry round out a resort built for guests planning to spend real time on site rather than treating it as an overnight stop between destinations.
- Golf course
- Four pools
- Spa
- Multiple dining rooms
Our take
This suits golfers and travelers planning a multi-day resort stay who want pools, a spa and dining all on the same historic grounds, rather than a quick overnight stop tied to a stadium event. The scale here is genuinely different from every chain hotel on this list. Anyone wanting a short airport run or a budget rate should look toward the Happy Valley or Surprise clusters instead, since The Wigwam trades convenience for grounds.
- Book tee times well ahead of a February or March visit, since spring training season fills the course fast.
- Try more than one of the on-site dining options rather than defaulting to the same room each night.
- Budget extra time for the 32-minute airport transfer, longer than the Happy Valley chain-hotel cluster.
Why we love it

- Four pools on site
- Full spa
- Historic Litchfield Park grounds
Why guests love itFour pools give The Wigwam more water space for children than almost any resort near Glendale, and parents can split the day between the spa and 54 holes of golf. Several dining options on site mean a family can stay put after a round or a swim, and the Wigwam Bar is a short walk away. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is about 32 minutes by car. Guests rate it 9 out of 10 from 4,964 reviews.
