About this stay
Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Durham keeps things simple with comfortable balcony rooms, air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV and free WiFi standard throughout, a solid value pick for travelers whose trip centers on the airport corridor rather than Duke University or downtown. Located just 6 km from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the property sits closer to the runway than most Durham hotels on this list, with Umstead State Park 12 km away for a nature break between flights or meetings. Duke University is a genuine 22 km drive from here, so travelers focused specifically on campus visits should weigh the distance before booking. Nearby attractions include the Lenova Center (16 km), North Carolina Museum of Art (17 km) and Crabtree Valley Mall Shopping Center (20 km), giving airport-corridor guests a few options beyond the hotel itself. Couples rate the location well for a two-person trip.

Our take
This suits travelers whose trip is genuinely airport-centered, prioritizing a short run to RDU over walking distance to Duke or downtown. The balcony rooms are a nice touch rarely found at this price point. Guests planning a Duke-focused visit should factor in the 22 km drive before booking this location specifically.
- Request a balcony room specifically at booking, not every unit in the building includes one.
- Plan on a genuine drive to Duke University if that is part of your trip, it is 22 km from here.
- Use the Crabtree Valley Mall Shopping Center as a rainy-day option if you have time before a flight.
